My Favs of NY Fashion Week

I've been doing a wee-bit of New York Fashion Week digging and have found a few looks I'll definitely be excited to try come Fall (or now!).   My fav NYFW looks:

Prabal Gurung, 3.1 Philip Li, Thakoon & DKNY
 Images from Refinery29

Prabal Gurung: I'm already loving pinks and corals/oranges mixed together - makes me think of spring and summer!

3.1 Philip Li: Kelly green is a long time fav color of mine to wear - the mix of it with grey and black definately makes this a great fall/winter look.

Takkoon: Wearing different shades & hues of the same color is hard to do for me - but love this look so much, I will definitely be giving it a try.  I also am kinda getting hooked to Navy & rich blues right now...

DKNY: Stripes continue into Fall, and that is really good since over the last couple of years I have really collected a stock pile of this pattern.  This look reminds me the the bubble gum stripes trend I love so much.

What are your favorite NYFW looks/designers??

Bubble Gum Stripes

Prada, Marc Jacobs, A.L.C., and Celine are just some designers that presented this bubble gum stripes trend down the runway, as reported about via Who What Wear.

I saw this and immediately loved it!  I love stripes and bold, fun colors - so combined, I was in love.  I can see, however, where some might think this look could be a little parachute-y?  What do you think?

Here are some affordable options on-spot with this trend:

Dresses: Forever 21 Stripe V-Neck dress; Forever 21 Purple & Gray stripe tunic; Anthropologie Crossing the stripes Dress (LOVE!);
Tops: Anthropologie Lining-The-Field Scoopneck top (SWOON!); Ella Moss Jersey Striped "Trixie" T-shirt; Boat-Strip Top (avail in lots of colors & only $10!) via Talbots
Skirts: Forever 21 Colorful Bars Stripe skirt; Stripe Contrast-Hem Power Skirt by BCBG via Lord & Taylor; Charlotte Russe Coral Stripe Front Pocket Skirt

Runway Trends and Inspirations: Warm Sequins

For Fall, I can't wait to get my hands on one thing in particular.  A coppery, gold or bronze sequin something.  This perfect-for-Fall shimmery trend has made it's way from the Runway:

Fall 2010 Runway - Doo Ri and Isaac Mizrahi (photos via InStyle)

To the Red Carpet:

The 2010 Emmy's rocked glistening sequins in shades of gold, bronze and copper.

On Celebrities for Premiers and Events:

Both InStyle Looks of the Day

And now, all I want is this:

J.Crew Bronze Sequin Bell Skirt which is only left in limited sizes.
You can also track it down in a few more size options at Net-A-Porter.

I am going to keep my eye on this and hope for pop-backs!  I love that it's A-line and could be dressed down or up depending on the occasion!

Another cute option, but limited occasions to wear to:

The Bangles from the Past

The chudi bazaar near Ghantaghar, Jodhpur in India. Its gorgeous, to say the least.
Whats colourful, glassy and clinks a lot?
For all of you still struggling to answer this..Bangles. Why I decided to suddenly go from accessories from the runways to accessories even making the rounds on the streets of India? I think the answer lies within the question. I decided that as a fashion blogger, I'm not going to go the safe way and talk about the universally approved runway accessories alone. The reason why I decided to write about these gorgeous pieces of glass (at least originally) was because I personally, find them extremely fashionable. There is no dearth of instances of how bangles have evolved from the plain, glass accessories sold all across the country to big, chunky daring pieces of metal or wood for that matter. Bangles, for me stand as the ultimate symbol of femininity. There is a reason the gorgeous nine yards of sartorial beauty-the Saree was always accompanied by these. From the torch bearers of ultra femininity in bollywood to J-Lo, Drew Barry More, Madonna and the likes! The charm of these glazed, shiny and undeniably noisy pieces has not alluded a soul.
My take? Wear it with whatever you like. Yes, you heard it. I personally find it extremely stylish to team up a monochrome tee shirt or tunic with bangles of a contrasting color on my daring days. And you can also add that bit of spunk by adding a bright dupatta with a tee to pick you up on those down days :)
Of course, for those wanting to play it safe, I have good news for you too :) Bangles are now available in westernized avatars and are a hit all over the world with women. If you're a sucker for designers and would want to still try on these glitzy thingys, here's something to make you happy :)
Bangles from LV. The object of my desire.

I also happen to have a fetish for a lot of bling and what better way to wear a bangle than the classy Hyderabadi bangle with all the glittering stones way! Luckily for me, I have friends who get me those vintage bangles from Hyderabad often :) I would be only halfway with my fashion rants if I didn't tell you that there is a Forever 21 version of these glamorous Hyderabadi bangles available for those of you who are brand loyalists :) Take a look.
The stunning studded Hyderabadi bangles.

Forever 21. Forever Gorgeous.

P.S: Ideas to make the bangles look trendier? I would love to hear from you :)
XOXO.

Fallling for Jackets: Military/Utility Styles

My favorite part about the weather cooling off is layers!  I love being able to through on a jacket for my summer clothes to extend their life longer, or new fall clothes for something new.  Already, I've seen tons are great jackets styles and options, trend by trend I'm going to share options with different price points.

Starting with the Military/Utility jacket trend...

Top row, right to left:
Target - $28; Old Navy - $40; Victoria's Secret - $78; J.Crew - $148;

Do you plan to wear this type of jacket this fall? If so, which brand are you digging/have you bought?
I'm majorly crushing on the Victoria's Secret one!

Outfit Inspiration: Dolce & Gabbana Opposites Attract

Leave it to Dolce & Gabbana to make "clashing" colors into one fabulous dress!  This dress has been circulating around on many...including one of the Biggest Loser contestants I posted about a few months ago - Ashley:

A fashion face-off between Holly Madison and Elizabeth Hurley:

And in a different brand, Reese Witherspoon has been spotted in a pretty red and pink dress:

And from all this great inspiration, this dress emerges to look similar and is very cute:

While this Ruche criss cross and wrap dress is lacking the contrasting colors, the light pink top and coral bottom provides the similar effect on a softer and more summery level.

Dress for Less: Jimmy and J.Crew

Remember these pretty bad boys I posted about earlier this year?  Ahhh, still in love...

Ah, yes - still stunning.  Among J.Crew's new arrivals, I found these almost as pretty, but definitely fun (and less expensive) and similar heels:

J.Crew's Demetra Heels ($198 vs. Jimmy's $950)

Favorite Blogger Outfit: Beachy Glam

I totally make up those quick explanations of the outfits after "Favorite Blogger Outfit" in the title.  Bascially whatever comes to my head first when looking at particular outfits.  Just in case anyone was wondering where the heck I was getting that. :)

Miss Chloe is no unknown to you, I'm sure.  Her blog, the Chloe Conspiracy is filled with wonderful and detailed outfit of the day posts and inspirational ideas.  She has many lux and aspirational fashion items from high-end brands that I can only drool at, but my favorite outfits of hers are when she takes cheaper pieces and can make an outfit look lux and high-end!  She does it time after time, including this week's fav outfit:

Just such a pretty outfit - perfect for summer, the beach or a date.

Her Outfit Deets:

Dress for Less: Sequin Stripe Tee

Stripeful-lust continues...Last week I included an adorable Samantha Striped Tee in a post, but at the $385 price tag, it's not coming to a closet near me any time soon.  I was very excited to find a just as adorable, a lot less pricey tee, that I think will make a permanent stop in my closet:
