- April.  Tomorrow is April!  Means patio time, margarita's, sunshine and summer ahead.
- More California time ahead - freshly back from family vacay in Sonoma and San Fransisco, and I'll be back to CA for a fun work conference in less than 2 weeks!
- Dinner parties with friends - had a fun one at my house last night, and wee bit tired today because of it!
- Pay day! Been waiting for this so I can justify a lil J.Crew order...

Awkward.

 - Wearing tights in late March.  Seriously? I'm over it.  That is me saying that - I LOVE tights, you know... but I'm over it now.
- Awkward outfit shot in a hotel room, with poor lighting to boot!
- Snow on freshly bloomed flowers - actually, that's not awkward, that's just mean!
-Tripping in front of an entire group of people meeting on my way to the bathroom (I really had to pee, and everyone then knew)!
- Adult break outs!  I don't know if it's the flying (recycled air usually makes me feel a little ick), lack of sleep, or getting immune to my face wash - but I'm broken out way more than usual!

Nymph

Spent the day at a national trust park with my family. It was such a beautiful place and believe me, there are plenty more photos to share with you some other time! I wore a favourite vintage floral dress and my mary-janes and scampered through the fields and over rocks to my hearts content. My favourite spot was in this sort of cave where you could sit and look out at the lake. It was so peaceful and calm by the water. Possibly my new favourite place in the world.

Straw Flower Hat

This is my dream hat! I found it today in a vintage shop, it didn't have a price tag on so I took it to the counter praying that it was for sale and it was! Yay! This is an old Jigsaw dress which was my Mum's. She's really my main influence. When I was growing up she either wore long, figure skimming dresses of the kind I now sport, or fitted flared trousers and a plain top and always look effortless. She still dresses like that now in fact. She's always had a few simple bits of silver jewellery that she wears all the time and I'm the same but I prefer gold.

Rose and I didn't end up going down to see my brother yesterday. Instead we stayed home and watched Miss Congeniality and then Collateral. If you haven't seen Collateral see it soon! Tom Cruise at his best I think. Not to mention he's uber sexy in it, grey hair and all. We managed to munch our way through a pizza and tub of Ben and Jerry's. Good times. My brother might be coming down on Monday as Rose has a day off school and we might go to the zoo!

I just noticed how funny my pinky finger is in the second to last picture - take a closer look! I really like hands, not to sound strange or anything! I like people who use their hands to express things when they're talking. 

Ramble, ramble, ramble. It's funny how some posts turn into huge amounts of words when you don't intend them to. I'm sorry I haven't been able to show you shop pics as I said I would, even though it's been a totally hectic week I haven't actually been in the shop as much as I thought I would! Mini Trench

Today was such a beautiful day, the sun has been shining non-stop! I love it when you get that first Spring feeling. I've been at home today doing shop stuff and following the sun-spots around in our living room, curling up like a cat. It's been nice to have a home day after a hectic weekend in London. Tomorrow I'll be sorting all the new stock and crossing my fingers that this wonderful weather continues.

Took some pictures in the garden today, it was perfect weather for the first picnic of the year, but no time for that! This is my perfect lounging about outfit, no fuss, just simple. I've been after a short trench-ish coat for Spring, one that just reached my thighs and this one is just so classic and boring. Just what I wanted!

For those of you who aksed, I will be posting shop pictures this week! It's changed quite a bit since I last showed you so it should be quite exciting!

Key Necklace

When life gets hectic and I have no time to think about what to wear, my wardrobe gets simpler. I'm always going to reach for a long floral dress in times of despair, but I've been wearing this striped vest top and flared jeans since Monday. I got these faded flares on Sunday and love them, they're like comfy pyjamas. The fur coat I blogged about recently has become a bit of an obsession, probably because I want to get as much use out of it before Spring, although I always go back to my black pea coat.

The highlight of what would otherwise have been a totally boring post style-wise (although sometimes I think there is nothing more stylish than a striped top and jeans) has to be this key necklace I made on Monday night at about 2 o'clock in the morning. I stole this key from my Grandparent's house when I was 11 or 12 and kept it in a box ever since. Woken with the sudden urge to put a real key on a necklace, I reached for the little tin box and dropped this key onto the first free chain I could find. Isn't it funny how something so simple can give you so much pleasure? I like my jewellery to have a story, or some sort of personal significance to it, so expect this to become another regular on The Flower Girl.

My fashion dream is to one day have one single outfit that satisfies me so much it's all I'll ever wear again. Basket, check. Mary-Janes, check. Key necklace, check. See, I'm getting there :)

I'm looking forward to a morning filming, a trip to IKEA and a fun filled interview with blogger Robyn on Friday at the shop! I'm having to get the window replaced, but otherwise it's all coming along amazingly well!

Washington D.C. Color

This past weekend I was in Washington D.C. - visiting one of my best friend's & going to Lady Gaga concert!  Oh my gosh was it all so fun.  I saw Gaga in KC back in August and it was so fabulous, I had to see her again!  She did not disappoint, and this time having her new song, Born This Way as the finale.

I also spent a lot of time with friends, exploring the city, shopping, eating and taking pictures!  I found so much color in DC, even though the weekend was pretty overcast and windy!

My friend lived in a row of town homes (would you call these brown stones, or is that only a NYC term?), and these were part of her row.  I loved the colors and flaking in paint.

Does anyone recognize this butterfly wall?  It is at Bloomies.  I loved the neon butterflies against the white wall - almost as I love how my friend rocks a turban on her head!  Her bright silk scarf wrapped around her hair is a fun pop of color on any gray day.  I'll have more on this some other time...as I want to try this myself & also have a how-to!

We found a great home store near Logan Circle, call Reincarnations.  It was filled with vibrant home design & decor and I wanted to take it all home!  It was so well priced!  I left with a beautiful pillow that you'll see in my bedroom soon... But look at this teal room (love the double chandelier) and glass heads!

I entered DC in this outfit...and little did I know, that DC was not going to be as warm as I thought - so this stripe blazer (my only "jacket" I brought) was worn a lot, layered on top of the clothing I brought to try to keep me a little warm...
