OOTD: On the Sunny Side

It was SO nice the past couple of days here.  Here we are in December - and the sun was out, and weather warm enough for a light jacket, scarf and able to trot around town and get this Xmas shopping done!  I am 90% done! Which I'm really happy about.

So with all this nice weather - I mixed a little springy wear with a winter wear and some bright tights to boot!

My Outfit Deets:
Necklace - Forever 21 (last seen here)
Sweater - J.Crew
Skirt - NY&Co (last seen in the spring)
Tights - Target
Boots - Target (last year)

All That Glitters: Sequin Accessories

From sequin dresses, to heels and now glittery accessories... I can't get enough glitz!  Well, it's the holidays after all.  And these sequinedy pieces can be worm year around mixed and matched in unexpected ways.

Wear Now and Wear Later: A Skinny Belt from NY&Co

For the holidays, layer a skinny sparkle belt over a cocktail dress or dark skinny jeans with heels.

And later, mix this sparkle belt with plaid, like over this J.Crew plaid dress.

Wear Now and Wear Later: Sequin Wrist Watch from Nine West (and now on my wish list...love)

This watch would look great with a simple black dress for a holiday party, or dark jeans for a night out.

Or later, dress it down with an American Apparel v-neck t and jeans.

Wear Now and Wear Later: Glitter Tights from Kohl's

Slip these under almost any holiday dress with bright heels for subtle glitz.

Later, layer knee-high rugged boots on over these tights, with a wool skirt and button down shirt for appropriate for work.

What glittery goodness will you don this season?

Outfit of the Day: Layering a summer piece

I was switching out my closet with Fall clothes and layer pieces, putting away my summer tanks and lighter things - and I decided to keep some thin summer tops for layering purposes.  I like having clothes that I can wear all year long, even if that means having to wear over a long sleeve shirt or turtle neck and under a sweater.

So I started this process, the layering process:

J.Crew striped top and ruffle tissue tank with ruffle.  New York & Co teal pencil skirt.

And those leopard flats I can't get enough of, along with a new purse from Gap. A cross between a hobo and satchel - I love this thing!

Wearing the Colors of Fall Trees

We haven't gotten to the colorful tree portion of Fall yet, but I am looking forward to that as last year my neighborhood was beautiful with vibrant purple, red, orange.  My outfit reminds me of the trees in the fall:

Comprised of red, orange, yellow, purple - I think I'm wearing all the colors of the leaves in the Fall!

New Loft Jacket I got on sale + 25% off (check a store near you)
Loft purple sweater
New York & CO floral skirt
Yellow Target shoes

Not crazy about this one... just threw this on last Friday for work.  After a long week, I overslept and wasn't in the mood to get out of bed, let alone get dressed... but I did.

Wore this cardi on day 7.

Another Carrie Inspiration: Outfit of the Day

Carrie inspiration from one SATC movie (flower bomber jacket posted about earlier) to the next, on to the 2nd!  I loved many of her outfits in the 2nd movie, as I've posted a lot about already, but one I was excited to try myself:

the long top over an A-line skirt

I took my own spin and did this look for night:
Excuse the tan like (white shoulder glaring out of the shirt)

Banana Republic Turquoise Bling

Last week I journeyed to my nearest Banana Republic store to find the turquoise necklace that graced the necks of the BR models, but could not find available for purchase online.  I was excited to see that my store had them in stock for sale!  I was even more lucky to have gotten it 30% off...

I intend to wear mine necklace with a similar colored dress I have soon... but this time around, I wore it this way:

With a splash of pink...

Outfit deets:
Necklace: Banana Republic
One-Shoulder Blouse: Limited, couple years ago (similar here)
Skirt: J.Crew Linen Charter Skirt

80s Inspired

This past weekend I attended a quadruple birthday party.  It was an 80s themed bbq, followed by a party bus to FunkyTown- an 80s, cheesy themed bar about 30 minutes away.  It was an interesting night, I'll leave it at that - but a TON of fun.

I'm not sure how 80s I look, or if I just look totally mismatched, but I managed to take all my own clothes that I actually (sadly?) wear - just not styled in this fashion...

Hot Pink Tank
Skirt: Target
Basic Black Leggings
Hot Pink Socks
Beloved Converses
Purse: H&M

Neutral Outfits

Sometimes neutral outfits can be boring or blaa...but oh so easy.  Last week I had a gray dress streak (can you call two days in a row a streak?) and tried to spice it up each neutral outfit a little:

Long gray dress with white and cognac...

But with a fun necklace:

Bright purse:

and my toes are sea green (limited edition - find similar colors here)!

Short gray dress with stripes and leopard (what?!):

Love these Leopard print flats...

Outfit Inspiration: Olivia Palermo

Now that The City is started back up, so has my love for all the ladies on that show's style, including Miss. Olivia.  She is so very polished.  I have seen this photo of her tons of places awhile back, but dug it out of my inspiration folder to use for my own styling inspiration:

So I copied:

JCrew Cardi
NY&Co Striped Shirt and Necklace
Target Black Skirt

New York & Co Floral Skirt & Necklace Outfit

A month ago, I looked for a floral skirt that cost less than an Anthro fav.  One of the Dress for Less options included this New York & Co one...

First, I don't just highly recommend this skirt, but the other floral patterned skirt in the same cut (i.e. elastic waist band = super comfy and length-customizable).  I got them both, and love them.

I also got this Teardrop necklace:

My outfit, featuring these two new NY&Co pieces at incredible deals:

Skirt & Necklace: NY&Co
Shirt: J.Crew - I could wear this thing every day.

Straw Fedora

This weekend I picked up this hat from New York & Company. Because it is on sale for $5.98 - it is sold out online - but check your local store for one there.

To get the similar style - check out these options.
