To the Max

Update - Big Favor guys! Can you vote for me (Chasing Davies) real quick?! It will take literally 3 seconds - click here, scroll down a tiny bit and look to the right side of the blog for the poll unit.  Vote! Would be so freaking excited if I won blogger of the month!

Since I was vacationing last week, I missed my photography class last week and the assignment.  So instead of Lulu and my typical I See, You See - we took pics of each other - hah! You'll have to head over to her blog to see the final chosen pics - one of her taken by me, and one of me taken by her.

Also using the pics Lulu took of me for today's outfit post {Thanks so much L}... Wearing my new maxi skirt.  This is new to me.  I love the maxi dress thing, sure, but haven't tried the long skirt - and now I own 2, thanks to shopping on vacay.  Here's the first attempt - a long black and white stripe skirt. Paired with this washed out denim shirt, I think I look a little tired cow girl ish?

{Jacket - Target; Denim Button Down - Target; Stripe Maxi Skirt - Macy's; Gray Boots - Endless.com}

If you are craving some denim & maxi skirts... here are some shopping opions:

Hippie Chic With New Bedding

My navy blue guest bedroom is coming along! With the completion of the walls, I finally got to put to use the bedding I'd already gotten awhile ago!  So little by little this room is coming along and I'll show you little sneak peaks along the way until the grand finale!

It's all pretty  plain still, as there is nothing else in there yet.  Just a pretty made bed and a little new bench I found at a reclaimed furniture store (Liberty Bell) in Kansas City.  But I love the pop of orange so much!  It'll be fun to start putting the rest of the room together.

My Bedding: West Elm Pin Tucked Duvet & 2 Shams, Orange Sheets, Pillow Cases and Bolster by Isaac Mizrahi via QVC; Orange blanket from Home Goods & Orange Wood Flowers in Clear Vase from Etsy

My Hippie Girl Outfit: Turquoise Necklace by J.Crew via Ebay (last seen here); White Blouse from Forever 21 years ago; Jeans  from Gap & Heels from Target

Dress for Less: Shoe of the Day

A double feature wammy for you today, readers!  Dress for Less & a Shoe of the Day!  Wowza.  You might reconize these adorable heeled sandles...

 By the ever popular and adorable brand, Seychelles, ya?  Well only one of these are the Seychelles Women's Gypsy Sandal and the pair on the left is actually significantly cheaper by Mossimo® Vivien Pleated Heeled Sandals via Target.

The Target pair comes in only Mushroom (shown) and black, and not all the fun and bright colors the Seychelles comes in (like this orange-coral color I love).  I ended up getting the Target ones, and while I've only worn them around Target and my house a bit - so far the seem very comfortable and look just like the Seychelles!

First Outfit Back & Photography Beginnings

Hey all! The Remix 30x30 Challenge officially over (wahoo) and I get my closet back + get to buy a few new things!!  I'm still going to keep my spending down low, especially as we're finishing up our home (which cost some major dough, if you ask me...) projects and have lots more in our future.  I did however run to J.Crew first thing post-challenge and get 2 stripedy beauties.  I got the Maritime dress, which you'll see later this week, and the Stripe Painter Tee (that zips in the back)...And immediately wore!

See that floor... that is PROGRESS!! Our bedroom (the one I'm standing in) is like 90% done.  The white trim is gleaming, blue paint touched up and floors finished and uncovered.

Also last night, I started my Photography Class and KC Art Institute with my friend (and Photo blogger), Lulu.  Together, over at her fab blog - A Candid Life, we are going to do a weekly feature on (or about) Wednesdays (a day after our weekly Tuesday class) with our two homework photos taken with a broad theme in mind - so the pictures will really be very different.  She'll post both our photos with the theme.  The first post is us behind our lens'.  I took the pic of her and she took the pic of me.  I think we're going to have fun... So go check it out and tell her I sent ya! :)

She also took these outfit pics:

 {J.Crew Stripe Tee; Gifted Print Scarf; Target Belt; Old Navy Skirt; Target Tights; Banana Republic Boots; Stell & Dot Earrings, Loft Bracelet & Revlon Siren Orange Lips}

Day 18 {Before the Snow}

Yes, you're eyes are not deceiving you!  That is green grass you see!  This outfit was worn last week, hours before all the snow - or the SnOMG, or Snomageton, or Snowpocalypse - blizzard. With not posting outfits on the weekends (do you guys?), I get behind between blog and real life sometimes.

{Gingham button-down from Gap; Ivory/Metallic Skirt from Target; Maroon Tights from Target; Booties from DSW; Sequin Bag from Gap & Necklace from Talbots}

 My tights are maroon, not brown...

Day 6 {Gingham & Polka Dots}

Moving right along on this little challenge.  Only to day 6, so no problems yet, no repeats (besides the shoes) and I actually like this outfit.  Mostly black, but with the pattern mixes and pop of color in the shoes, I think it is more interesting than just a black outfit.

These polka dot tights are from Target, but sad story...this was the first time I wore them (but don't worry, I got them awhile ago, not during my no shopping band) and mid morning it was discovered that I had a run up the entire back of one leg. boo. Could not be saved.  So, on the hunt for new polka dot tights... See the other clothing deets here.

Don't you hate tight runs?  I wish I could dip my entire collection of tights in clear nail polish.

Day 2 {Fair Isle Warmth}

Well, it's the coldest day of the year {um, one of many to come, I'm sure}, so I picked my fair isle sweater that I scored on the clearance rack at Target a month ago.  Paired this with a stripe tee, over jeans and my slouchy grey boots and called it an outfit.

Nothing to crazy, but defiantly like this sweater and think I can have some fun with it!  My Keurig is also lending a hand to keep my warm {and awake}.

{See clothing details here}

And here are some snowy pictures for you:

Brrrrrr....Hope everyone is staying warm!

Furry Beast

My last outfit before my 30x30 Remix Challenge that starts tomorrow - a furry beastly outfit.  Well, just partly furry.  I scored the Military Green Wool Blazer with removable Faux-Fur Collar from Loft for 50% off at my local brick and mortar store (not seeing it avail online) a couple weeks ago and finally got the balls to wear it.

Not that you need balls to wear it, but I was unsure by wearing it to work, what kind of feedback I would get.  While I work at an ad agency, where what people wear to work can be a little more creative and some people in my department are great fashionistas (we all have a ton of fun shopping, talking about current deals and fashions) I'm a little more daring sometimes.

I did get a few looks that were questionable or hard to determine what they were thinking, but mainly compliments!  Plus, with this cold weather, the furry collar was warm.

I need some navy tights that are more opaque is what I'm thinking right now looking at this pic.

Outfit Deets:
Jacket - Loft
Gray V-neck Tee - American Apparel
Navy, Metalic Tweed Skirt - Loft
Silver Belt - Old Navy
Navy Tights - Target

Orange you glad to see my outfit?

haha, omg, lame.  Sorry, late night sleeping in the living room (whilst home remodeling ensues in the entire upstairs...more on that to come).  Anyways - I haven't worn this orange crinkle silk skirt from J.Crew too much, and it was staring at me in my closet begging to be worn!  So I added some colors from the purple family to it to make this very Fall looking outfit:

Even wore my fuchsia jacket and light lavender scarf to keep the colors all purpley - sick of purple tones yet?

 I sprayed practically a whole bottle of static guard on my bum and tights before leaving to keep this silky skirt from clinging to my tights in this cold weather.  Did the trick, but now I need more Static Guard.

I really liked this outfit. Felt pretty bold with all the colors, but not too bright or crazy.

Outfit Deets:
Skirt - J.Crew
Top - Lauren Conrad via Kohl's (Gift)
Belt - Loft
Tights - Merona via Target
Shoes - Audrey Brooks via DSW
Jacket - Tulle
Scarf - Express (Gift)

I just realized by typing about these two gifts, that I forgot to share my last Xmas Gift round up!  I'll get that out sometime this week. :)

And did you watch the Bachelor last night?  Lisa M. made it through again, and while not on camera as much as the girls in the thick of the drama, she looked fab, and some other fun fashion finds & looks here.

Sparkle and Plaid

I winterized my Anthro Silver Lining Dress (last worn in the sweet warmth of summer) with a bit o' plaid...

I had a great night in this outfit.  Went to dinner with some of my dearest friends who were all home (to KC) for the holidays.  I also feel on my face...well not on my face, but my knee.  Thankfully my tights were not ripped!  phew. ;0

Coral and Ice

I am loving fiery coral right now.  And mixed with this printed skirt, and an loose jacket, I really loved this outfit.  Plus the bright color made me feel really cherry. :)

And I must show you a close up of a newer necklace of mine!  It's very J.Crew bling-esque, but actually from a very unexpected store for me!  I found it while holiday shopping for others, and had to pick it up...

Can you guess where it's from?
Ok, well I won't make you...it's from Talbots!! I can't find it online, but they do have some other great pieces.

Jacket - Simple Vera via Kohl's
Turtleneck - J.Crew
