Upgraded

If you follow me on Twitter you might have caught a few tweets and twitpics of my recent stay at Hotel Monaco in Denver.  I went for only one night for work, and upon checking in, we told I got upgraded. Sweet.  Didn't really know what to expect, and then when I walked into my room - scratch that - suite, I understood.

This room was fully decorated with fun patterns, vibrant colors, 2 big flat screen TVs and a Jacuzzi.  The room is way more exciting than my outfit!  I love the top and skirt, but probably would have made it a little more fun with bright tights & shoes if I didn't have a client meeting (toning it down a bit).

{Stripe top - Anthro last year; Skirt - NY&Co this past summer}

Favorite Blogger Outfit: Mixing Patterns

This outfit has me screaming for spring to get here already, but also the perfect little outfit to wear now, and later, sans tights & cardi.  Love love love the peek of polka dots mixed with a floral dress.  The wear now part comes in those adorable thick tights and sweater cardi. Gee from Sock Monkey and Gee looks fab!

Green Skirt, Blue Room

Tomorrow is March, and I'm already ready for St. Patty's day in my new Anthro Drawing Parallels Kelly Green skirt (online available in navy).  I love kelly green.  The bright, jewel tone is always so easy to mix and makes me happy!  I dressed this skirt up and wore to work for some meetings.  I still wanted to have some fun with color, so paired it with maroon tights...

Um, and do you see that beautiful blue wall??  That is our new guest bedroom wall paint!! It's almost done! I just have to get all the furniture back in now...  I love it!  Way more on that room and details later.

{Printed Shell - J.Crew; Cardi - Simply Vera for Kohl's; Skirt - Anthro; Maroon Tights - Target; Gray Wedges - Target}

Favorite Blogger Outfit: Sweet Polka Dots

Just like I said last week about avoiding J.Crew on this shopping band, I've also been avoiding Anthroplogie - my other favorite place to shop.  But just like the Maritime dress, once this shopping band is over, I'm definitely checking out this Take Action dress I've seen on several cute bloggers.

And Kim from Anthroholic looks so stinkin' cute in this dress and the way she styled it up, that I can hardly wait to go check it out in person!  I love this polka dot dress layered over her lace top and pop of yellow in the shoes.  So perfectly cute.

Her Outfit Deets:

Forever 21 Lace Top
Anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
J.C. Penney Worthington Nude Crochet Tights

Bubble Gum Stripes

Prada, Marc Jacobs, A.L.C., and Celine are just some designers that presented this bubble gum stripes trend down the runway, as reported about via Who What Wear.

I saw this and immediately loved it!  I love stripes and bold, fun colors - so combined, I was in love.  I can see, however, where some might think this look could be a little parachute-y?  What do you think?

Here are some affordable options on-spot with this trend:

Dresses: Forever 21 Stripe V-Neck dress; Forever 21 Purple & Gray stripe tunic; Anthropologie Crossing the stripes Dress (LOVE!);
Tops: Anthropologie Lining-The-Field Scoopneck top (SWOON!); Ella Moss Jersey Striped "Trixie" T-shirt; Boat-Strip Top (avail in lots of colors & only $10!) via Talbots
Skirts: Forever 21 Colorful Bars Stripe skirt; Stripe Contrast-Hem Power Skirt by BCBG via Lord & Taylor; Charlotte Russe Coral Stripe Front Pocket Skirt

Favorite Blogger Outfit: All around the shoes

Sometimes I pick out my outfit solely around a certain accessory or pair of shoes!  In this case, I can only dream of all the fun outfits I'd wear with Pamela's cute shoes (that I may just break down and get them myself some day):

I not only love Pamela's {of Ginger Girl} super fun teal shoes, but what she wore them with!  I love colored tights {almost more than anyone}, and then her bright fun skirt!  What a perfect outfit to brighten up a winter day.

Skirt: Anthropologie green thumb

Dress for Less - Anthro Look, part 2

Part 2 of today's Dress for Less series: Anthropologie inspired.  Again with the Anthropologie floral dress... but this time I have other options if your wallet isn't big enough for Anthro or the dress didn't quite fit well (a la me).

Inspiration Look:

First, I dug around in my closet to try to recreate this look with what I already own (and my new grey boots that arrived this week).
My recreation of look from the depths of my closet:

 Ok, so not exactly a great replica.  But I already had the dress.
I should have worn my more solid tights.
And I love these boots.  They are so comfy and easy.
Dress is from Anthro summer of 2009.

Perhaps my favorite potential recreated look:

Outfit pieces:
LOVE the Dress by Envi from Bluefly;
Navy tights from Charlottle Russe
Boots from Target (push them down to get the Anthro styled look)

And more dress shopping options for you to choose from:

Floral Dresses: Forever 21; Tracy Reese; Express; BCBG Maxazria

Have you tried on this dress?  Love it (jealous if so), got it (still jealous).  Maybe I'll try it again if it's still avail once it goes on sale. :)

Dress for Less - Anthro Look, part 1

As I mentioned yesterday, I wanted to recreate 2 Anthro looks.  Here is part 1:

I found some other options to whip up this fun pattern mixing outfit Anthro featured on their site:

This outfit is so interesting to me.  I would wear it in a heartbeat, however, it costs over $340 and the skirt just didn't flatter me very well at that!  So I put together my replacement 'dress for less' outfit and also provided some further options bellow.

I would love to wear this outfit:

This outfit total cost: $137.79
Outfit pieces: Hoodie from American Eagle; Skirt by Bluefly;
Tights by Target; Lace up booties by Urban Outfitters

More stripe hoodie options:

More printed skirt options:

I love finding just as good options for less!  Would you piece together similar things to make a look you love?

 P.S. remember to use Ebates when shopping online!

Anthro Fitting Room: Some New Arrivals

After seeing the adorable floral dress in my email box last week (and posted immediately about here), I hurried myself to Anthro to try it on and a couple of other things.

The first thing I tried on was that dress, the Soft Structured Dress:

And oh so sadly, it just didn't work for me - especially for $148.  The sleeves were too tight (thus why the arm fabric looks lighter - it's too stretched) and if you have any kind of hips at all - it fit a little weird around them:

 So now my goal will be to find a similar dress to mimic this look!  I already have some similar looking boots on the way...

The next new arrival I tried on was a skirt from another Anthro look I love:

Just adore the stripe top mixed with this patterned skirt, as well as a little casual meets dressy pieces. However, sadly again - this Recurring Theme skirt didn't work for me and the whole outfit here is over $340!  So another recreate goal here.

I didn't like how this skirt puffed out after the waist band - made my love handles look even lovier!
But I love the print of this skirt!

A new (at least to me) item that I loved on and off of me was the Float Above Blouse.  Such a soft teal/tourquoisey color. and the details was subtle, yet fun and unique.

 However, I did not get this - as it is $148... I'll keep my eyes on it if it goes on sale!

So my goal now is to recreate those first two looks for less - I'll keep you posted! :)

Sparkle and Plaid

I winterized my Anthro Silver Lining Dress (last worn in the sweet warmth of summer) with a bit o' plaid...

I had a great night in this outfit.  Went to dinner with some of my dearest friends who were all home (to KC) for the holidays.  I also feel on my face...well not on my face, but my knee.  Thankfully my tights were not ripped!  phew. ;0

Outfit Deets:
Dress - Anthro last summer
Plaid Shirt - Target
Tights - Target
Heels - Target

Get Lisa's The Bachelor Profile Pic Look

We have to wait until Monday (1/10) to find out what happens next on The Bachelor.  Lisa M. from Ottawa, KS (however, lives in the Kansas City area now) made it through the first round in her pretty blue dress.  Before we get to her ABC profile pic look, and update on her premier episode footwear.

She surprised some people by wearing sparkly red heels out of the limo - of course this is a TV show, and most of the girls do a little something meeting the Bachelor for the first time, as encouraged to do so by ABC and nothing new. It was just for fun, and not a reflection of her personal footwear taste (in case you weren't sure...).  :)

Photo from ABC online episode

After first meeting Brad and heading into the house, she then changed into her normal shoes she had originally planned to where all along.  You can get a glimpse of them after she accepts her rose from Brad at the end of the night:

And they look a ton like mine, but mine are Nine West and were from Marshall's.
Lisa's are Enzo Angiolini available via Nordstroms.

Ok, now on to Lisa's ABC profile pic - her look has already had a lot of feedback and questions regarding where she got her necklace. So I thought I'd provide some options...

She is such a natural beauty!
Her necklace is from Anthropologie & yellow tank top from Forever 21 from this past summer and no longer available.  Since filming started in September...a lot of the clothing worn may not be available.

But you can still get the look yourself:

Necklaces:
Mixit via JCPenny's; Charlotte Russe; Buckle; Naomi's from Linen n' Things (seriously!)

Yellow Tanks:
Roxy; LnA via Bluefly; 7 for Mankind (on sale for $20!); Alexis Kady via Singer22

And if you missed what she wore on the first night, you can go here to see & how to get it! You can also follow me on Twitter where I tweeted live during the show (& about other random adventures and finds)!

And further more...if you want to see pretty Lisa M.'s Bachelor submission pic & how she got involved with the show - Lulu has a great post at A Candid Life!
