Practice Until I Can Buy It!

 So if you follow my sweet friend, Lulu's blog - you'll have learned more about our photography journeys.  We love taking pictures, and just recently have gotten greater passions to take GOOD pictures, got fancy cameras and are taking a class at KC Art Institute.  Along with that, we work at a place with an abundance of creative people.  We got a quick lesson from amazing photography, Drew on blurring the backgrounds.

So I practiced a bit last night keeping my sweet little turquoise rose earrings (from China Town, San Fran) in focus with the background blurry.

I just have the lens my camera came with - so nothing fancy.  Because of that, I used no zoom and had to get pretty close.  I had to back up a bit until my camera would take the photo in auto focus and then used Photoshop to crop a bit.  Unfortunately, because I'm so close, you can see all the dust on my dresser.  Eeeks!

This is as much blur I can get.  My lens doesn't allow full boy pics with blurry backgrounds like I am really wanting!  So my next photography hobby purchase will be a fixed focal 50mm 1.8 lens.  This is what Drew told us we should get to produce this type of photo on a larger scale. The lens I plan to get: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens

Neck Full of {Hot Pink} Rosies

I was really craving a rosette necklace a few weeks ago.  Did some digging around and found a great shop that sells tons of colors, styles and types of rosette jewelry - and for a great deal.  I jumped at getting a hot pink one and paired it today with plum, camel and a dash of leopard.

Cool Blues

I went with all one color, but with different hues in my outfit for a bachelorette party this past weekend.  I wore teal, turquoise and royal all in one swoop!   I'd never done that before.  All blues!

 And because it was pretty warm this weekend, I went bare legged, and I was pretty exceited about that I guess...

First Outfit Back & Photography Beginnings

Hey all! The Remix 30x30 Challenge officially over (wahoo) and I get my closet back + get to buy a few new things!!  I'm still going to keep my spending down low, especially as we're finishing up our home (which cost some major dough, if you ask me...) projects and have lots more in our future.  I did however run to J.Crew first thing post-challenge and get 2 stripedy beauties.  I got the Maritime dress, which you'll see later this week, and the Stripe Painter Tee (that zips in the back)...And immediately wore!

See that floor... that is PROGRESS!! Our bedroom (the one I'm standing in) is like 90% done.  The white trim is gleaming, blue paint touched up and floors finished and uncovered.

Also last night, I started my Photography Class and KC Art Institute with my friend (and Photo blogger), Lulu.  Together, over at her fab blog - A Candid Life, we are going to do a weekly feature on (or about) Wednesdays (a day after our weekly Tuesday class) with our two homework photos taken with a broad theme in mind - so the pictures will really be very different.  She'll post both our photos with the theme.  The first post is us behind our lens'.  I took the pic of her and she took the pic of me.  I think we're going to have fun... Day 29 {Party Dress}

One day left in the Remix Challenge, and most importantly, spending freeze.  Not that I'm going to go nuts, no.  I'm still gonna be good with all our home projects going on, but there are a few things I'm eying.

Second to last outfit, I put on my party dress for an actual party!  I wore two times already (under a cardi and as as a skirt), but now it was time for this pretty dress to come all out!  All out for a good friend's wedding shower. A fabulous one at that.  I wish I took pics of the details, but I didn't.  

Remember how I went to that lil' jewelry party for free via work? It was hosted by a rep we use to thank us for our business, and the jewelry was by Stella & Dot.  My earrings came a few days later (pretty fast) and I am wearing them.

Day 12 {Hoot-hoot, Hoot-hoot}

Do purple and orange go ok together?  I kinda like it.  But I like weird color mixtures.  I was inspired by my multi-colored owl necklace (via Forever 21 this summer, similar) and layered on my not-worn-yet Loft tiered tank tunic over my orange (coral?) J.crew turtleneck (last worn on day 1).  Pulled on my skinny jeans and called it a day.  This outfit is super comfy.

Monday's episode (the 2nd one, airing Jan 2nd) was filled with annoying drama! The fashion was ALMOST masked by all of it, but thankfully I have my priorities straight... Let me know if you're looking for anything!

Lisa M. rocked a pretty green off the shoulder dress, by BCBG a couple summers ago on the 2nd episode of The  Bachelor.  You can find that dress on Ebay in size L (and another on Ebay in size M).

It was Michelle's bday in the 2nd episode - did you know that?  You may not have caught the few hundred times she mentioned it... but she did have a great teardrop turquoise necklace that was from Max&Chloe last summer.

 This necklace was from Max&Chloe this last summer, and is sold out now.  I LOVE turquoise necklaces (a la here, and here), so definitely wanted to provide some similar options:

Everyone is asking about Emily's green & brown floral print dress she wore on the 2nd episode of The Bachelor.  So far I haven't found it - but will keep looking!  In the meantime, I'm also compiling some similar options for you all trying to get your hands on the look!
