White T-Shirt and Jeans

Isn't it funny when you get dressed and then realise all the clothes you've got on are the same make? I am a walking Gap advert today!  I'm seeing enough and buying enough clothes for the shop at the moment that my own clothes are really the last thing I want to think about! Never turn a hobby into a job! I looked back through all my blog posts the other night and realised just how much I've changed over the last few months. When I started blogging I had this idea that every day I had to blog a new outfit, or wear something exciting or be inventive, but it's impossible! Blogging shouldn't be some kind of act.

My style is changing too, I didn't own a pair of jeans when I started The Flower Girl and now I practically live in them! My tee and cardi are also Gap, and my espadrilles were from Primark! I lived in them last summer. My necklaces were both £1 from Salvation Army or somewhere. The long one is my absolute favourite, I'd been after one like this for aaages.

The new windows were put in at the shop today, I wasn't there unfortunately as I had a driving lesson but I hear they look amazing! I wish I'd filmed/photographed it! Oh well, I'll be posting some other shop pics later this week! We got a sitting mannequin too! It's so cool, although if she's not at the right angle she looks a bit drunk! Did some filming at my home this week - an interview! I do tend to babble on, but it was fun!

I'd love if you entered my 1000 Followers Giveaway below and followed me on Bloglovin' and Twitter :) Make my day! Sorry this turned into a mega talky post! X

Key Necklace

When life gets hectic and I have no time to think about what to wear, my wardrobe gets simpler. I'm always going to reach for a long floral dress in times of despair, but I've been wearing this striped vest top and flared jeans since Monday. I got these faded flares on Sunday and love them, they're like comfy pyjamas. The fur coat I blogged about recently has become a bit of an obsession, probably because I want to get as much use out of it before Spring, although I always go back to my black pea coat.

The highlight of what would otherwise have been a totally boring post style-wise (although sometimes I think there is nothing more stylish than a striped top and jeans) has to be this key necklace I made on Monday night at about 2 o'clock in the morning. I stole this key from my Grandparent's house when I was 11 or 12 and kept it in a box ever since. Woken with the sudden urge to put a real key on a necklace, I reached for the little tin box and dropped this key onto the first free chain I could find. Isn't it funny how something so simple can give you so much pleasure? I like my jewellery to have a story, or some sort of personal significance to it, so expect this to become another regular on The Flower Girl.

My fashion dream is to one day have one single outfit that satisfies me so much it's all I'll ever wear again. Basket, check. Mary-Janes, check. Key necklace, check. See, I'm getting there :)

I'm looking forward to a morning filming, a trip to IKEA and a fun filled interview with blogger Robyn on Friday at the shop! I'm having to get the window replaced, but otherwise it's all coming along amazingly well!

Oh, and I passed my theory test! Thank you for all your good lucks Tweets!

I have my shop! (and I've gone crochet crazy)

I have a shop! I cannot describe the excitement! The keys were supposed to be handed over tomorrow, but the landlord rang this morning and asked if we could complete today! So I have my shop!!! It's crrrraaaazzzzzy, so exciting and scary at the same time. We just went down there to drop off some tools, flooring, the essential kettle for tea-making and it feels so good to know it's finally happening. This week will mainly be spent decorating; laying a floor, painting, planning our shop-fit and putting up lights so expect some pictures later on this week. I can't wait to get stuck in - we're hoping for a Spring opening. For instant updates follow me on Twitter.

This dress is my latest eBay find, it's terribly short, so I'll whip out the Johnson's Everyday Sunshine and tone up a bit in preparation for Spring! I'm in love with all things crochet! The belt is a shop one. I'm on the look out for the perfect wide, low-slung belt and am liking the idea of pairing one with knitted mini dresses for Spring. I really can't wait for nicer weather now, I'm wandering around the house like this and whipping out thick tights and jumpers to go out - my Mum thinks I'm crazy!

Anyway, I'm very excited so I'll be bouncing around the house tonight full of energy!

You only have until midnight to ENTER MY GIVEAWAY!!!

Lots of love

floaty gypsy top and mary-janes

Hello! I hope you're all having great evenings! I got this vintage gypsy-ish top the other day, it's so cool and comfy. It's embroidered around the collar but it doesn't show it too well in the photos. These shoes are just perfect, they are just so plain and boring. My Mum is after them! At this point I'm glad she's a size bigger than me :) Another thing you can't see very well in these pics is a new longish necklace. It's silver with two blue crystals in. I've been after a necklace of this length for ages, I like how easy it is to slip over my head.

Feeling inspired by simple things lately; loose hair, clear eyes, and outfits that revolve aound one key piece. I have re-organised my wardrobe so all the things I wear all the time (i.e my dresses, skirts, peasant tops) are in one and everything else is in a different place. And I've bubbled down my shoes to my black ankle boots, these mary-janes, some espadrilles and a pair of ballet pumps. My room feels so much better now and my wall just has a few cool pictures and some lanterns hanging up. I'll show you some time!

Thank you for all your wonderful comments lately, they really honestly lift my spirits and make blogging so much more enjoyable. I remember being happy when I got 2 or 3 comments, so this is really lovely. Thank you everyone! I'll make sure to hold an even more awesome giveaway at 1000 followers. Check out my current one here.

shop to let

Photobucket

Just a quick post today, some snaps from out and about in the city. I found a pack of bindi's in my old jewelery box from like 10 years ago and a tiny gold heart necklace my parents gave me when we lived in France when I was 8. My top is a little vintage one that belonged to my Nan, it has buttons all up the back and falls into a V shape, she gave me a whole bunch so you'll be seeing them in more detail once it's warmer. My maxi skirt is velvet and I've been meaning to wear it for ages and just haven't got around to it. I didn't really feel like getting dressed today! I looked through an inspiration folder in my computer and was drawn to Abbey Lee's whacky style. I love the way she pairs boots with long skirts and clashes colours.

The shop behind me in the pictures with the To Let sign in the window might be mine in the near future!! It's in a fabulous location right near the railway station and Debenhams. It's so lovely but it does need a bit of a face-lift outside! A lick of paint and a sunny day change the feeling of a place so much!

One last thing! My giveaway has until Feb 1st to run (enter here!). But I'll be holding another one when I get to 1000 followers! Any suggestions for a great giveaway?

day of fun

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm having a D.O.F. with my sister today (that stands for Day Of Fun in my family). We're having a major comedy fest tonight. Anchorman, Role Models and Austin Powers with a big bowl of popcorn. Ahhh life is good :)

I'm wearing my crochet dress again, sorry! I put this gypsy skirt on over it though because it's far too cold and I'm not sure my Mum would let me out in a holey dress in this weather. Mothers eh?! I literally cannot wait until it's warm again. I want to go bare-legged, shoe free and coat-less! The thing is, my wardrobe doesn't really change that much with the seasons. Practically everything I own is more suited to a warmer climate, but I just bundle on all the layers before I go out and have a hefty collection of 100 denier tights!

Hope you're all having great Saturdays!

hello darkness my old friend

I've been knee deep in all things DIY related this week. Places like B&Q and Homebase feel like home now, and I know more about laminate flooring than any 17 year old girl should! All in the name of making a great shop! I did get some funny looks from builders/plumbers/etc whilst floating around Wickes' in girly skirt and big daisy earrings.

I've been watching old movies and have decided that I would like to be Katharine Ross in The Graduate. Please? Isn't she perfect? I love her innocence and weird sideburns. Anyway, she inspired this outfit. I bought the peasant blouse from a Charity shop, it's a maternity one! You know me, anything loose and embroidered and I'm there. My daisy earrings and belt are vintage things that have been passed down to me. My skirt is also from somewhere like Age Concern. Have I mentioned that a percentage of the profits from my shop will be going to charity? Anyway, lots of love as always. X.

P.S.

I would really love if you entered my giveaway - here! I'm already planning the next one! Roll on 1000 followers I say!

Just some inspo today, had a hectic one and still feeling a bit funny, all though much better than at the weekend. I may have found THE shop, fingers crossed guys! I'm meeting the landlord tomorrow to view the place and hopefully get the ball rolling. Ahhh the excitement seeing it all coming together!
