Leather Jackets are fashion essentials

“Long hair minimizes the need for barbers; socks can be done without; one leather jacket solves the coat problem for many years; suspenders are superfluous.” ~ Albert Einstein

I had always adored leather jackets and I see them as a fashion essential. Bikers, rock stars, punks, metal heads and goths usually wear leather jackets probably because of the intimidating look that these jackets create and the protection that they give. But for a non-goth fashionista, a leather jacket means cool. It transforms an outfit into something incredible.

Living in the tropics gives me an excuse not to wear leather jacket; the temperature usually hits as high as 40-42 degrees in this country and thus sporting a leather jacket is hardly an opportunity. However, when I get to move to Europe, leather jackets would definitely be my most favorite apparel.

Here are some of the leather jackets that I covet. I found my first choices very expensive thus prompting me to look for alternatives that are more affordable.

If you could dress up like Candy

We say that we identify ourselves through our friends. Indeed, I identify myself through them. They are few, chosen few who share my interests and who reflect the big part of me.

I love fashion and I am addicted to it. Thus basically, my very close friends share this love too.

And for today's post, I am featuring the style of my good old friend Candy. We were college friends. We used to trade outfits and run sack one's closet. We were of the same size for clothes and shoes. We were an exact reflection of taste. But as we matured, each has developed her own better style and identity.

We have not seen each other for five years now. But thanks to facebook we got connected again.

This photo was taken when we were in our second year college. This was the magic five [I and Candy were both in white]. I am not the shortest, mind you, but in this photo, I was bare footed because I played Titania, the queen of fairies in Shakespear's "Amidst Summer Night's Dream". The others were in high heels.

Street Fashion: The girl next door

"Women don't dress up for men; they dress up for women, their co-species, their rivals."
~ by someone unremembered

Do you think this line calls for a debate? Do women really dress up not to impress men but to impress the other descendants of Eve?

Aren't we women are the first to notice what's hot and what's not on another female's outfit? Aren't we women are the first to scrutinize someone else's fashion?

If you walk pass a guy on the streets and you're wearing a fabulous dress, you can feel the eyes on you even if you don't look back, right? And then you think, "hmmm, he likes my outfit." You wonder if what he likes most, the boots? the mini-dress? the scarf? the hat? the necklace? the hair?

The thing is, the guy would actually look past the dress. He would look beyond the dress. The dress only suggests to him what's not revealed by it. But a woman would. A woman would see every angle of what you wear.

And just like any other woman, I notice this chic who lives next door. I think that she would make a homemade model. I think too that she has something great for a street fashion post.

Celebrity outfit: can you guess who's wearing this?

Look: Who's wearing bedazzled Miu Miu knee-high socks?

Clue: Her sweetheart is someone who can't seem to pose without opening his mouth.

Opinion: I think that there are just too much sparkly in this outfit, too much statement, which includes the hair. Does this celebrity really think she's doing an editorial fashion? If I were to wear these on the streets, I'd take the jacket and the socks separately. I would both take the jacket off and replace it with same length black jacket to give emphasis on the socks or I would take off both the shoes and socks and replace them with either black or dark brown knee-high boots to give emphasis on the jacket.

Look: who's wearing these sickness-inducing patterned pants?

Clue: she's a former "Hills" hottie who landed a gig in the fashion industry.

Opinion: I don't have anything against the pants and the shoes, in fact, i love them. But it's that gray sweater that destroyed the outfit. If I were her, I'd replace the top with a long empire cut or body hugging black top just enough to cover the crouch area. A black top would transform this combi into an elegant one.

Street Fashion: A reality check

As a fashion blogger, I am always overwhelmed by all the latest and most trendy outfits and the best designers' clothes. Oftentimes however, the street fashion is underrated. This post is a reality check of what people actually wear when they hit the streets.

Here are some stolen street fashion shots that Giara took around his hometown. It is interesting to note the contrasting styles of people and even contrasting expressions on their faces.

Special thanks to my honey for the photos ;)

Smitten by Eco-chic Jacket and Mini Dress

As Cafe Fashionista would ask, "What has smitten you this week?" My answer would be quick and loud, "An eco-chic jacket and a dress!"

This pink comfy stretch jacket is from Nine West's weekend collection. This would certainly look best if thrown over a black fitting top, a black spaghetti strapped top, or a black mini-dress with black leggings or black hose. Moreover this is a kind of a versatile possesion which would make you best dressed even in a wet market or in an office, very functional. And here's the catch, this Nine West Lilac Jacket can be quickly wrapped and delivered to you for only $34.50 plus $3.45 shipment fee. Yes, that's right. It's very affordable.

Here's the black mini dress that I couldn't wait to talk about. It looks flirty, simply loud and fun. Honestly, it's empire cut is nothing extraordinary, but it's the tatto design that has highlighted it. According to the saler, this look has become the trademark of the Ed Hardy line. And indeed they're right. Whether you're on the beach or on the street, you will certainly get noticed in this fabulous design. What is more exciting is that this Ed Hardy Sun Mini dress is actually available for only $42.50.

But on another note, if you would like a little subdued look even with this dress, the lilac jacket above is the answer.

Now your question must be, "Where did I get these finds?" Oh, i can't be selfish enough to not share with you where I found them. They are from a boutique which collects and selects gently used or previously owned fashion products. They have got a number of crazy and hot clothes and apparels and they are adding more soon, so be quick to visit them at Crazy Hot Clothes.

P.S. Thank you so much for all your sweet comments my dear friends. Life is just too crazy for me this time that I have to put on hold my visits to your sites. Please be a little patient here and I'll see you as soon as I can. I just have to get over this national debate tournament that my debaters are attending for four to five days. Hugs :)
