How celebs rock little black dress

From time to time I can't help but blog about this fashion basic that Coco Chanel first introduced to the world in 1926. It might not be true to everyone, of course, but a little black dress is simply classic and by rule, is a must-have.  I can't live without having it in my closet. If you're curious, this is how I wear little black dress.

It is much interesting to note how celebrities wear little black dress, how they shine at the red carpets amidst long gowns and how they sparkle in this no-longer-a-mourning-outfit at premieres or other events.

Here are some of my favorite celeb looks:

Heidi Klum attended InStyle's "Best of British Talent" fete in a shiny Marchesa mini that featured trendy feathers on the shoulders and skirt.

Amy Adams was seen at the 22nd Annual Producers Guild Awards in a sexy Andrew Gn dress.

Kristen Stewart black dress
Kristen Stewart looked like a princess in this Marchesa little black dress  she wore at the premiere of the movie "Eclipse".

If asked what little black dresses I have my eyes on right now, these three topped my list:
1) Taffetta dress  2) Strapless Drape Dress and 3)Rippling Motion Dress

They would give me a feel of that celebrity look if and only if they wouldn't hurt my pocket.

So tell me girls, are you a fan of little black dress?

Fabulously yours,

Angelina Jolie Looked More Dazzling With Less Make up

I fell in loved with this photo of Angelina when I first saw. Those pair of vulnerable looking blue eyes usually hidden beneath brown contact lenses, if you focus for sometime, penetrates into your soul. Her thick pouty lips are so well-formed. With a cleft accentuating the lower lip, they were the envy of every woman such as me. This photo speaks, that the best of Angelina's beauty comes out through a natural less crazy make up.

But when you think you are staring at an angel's face, don't be mislead. You might actually be admiring an extremely dangerous, very able to kill Russian spy.

Angelina Jolie graced the cover of Parade magazine early last month to promote her movie "Salt". I saw the movie with my friends at a theater two weeks ago and it was completely breath taking. A real action movie at that, full of suspense and rapid blows, we were too curious about the making. "Did she take doubles?" or "Is that Angelina throwing herself on top speeding ten-wheelers and cars?" you'd hear us murmuring in awe. But I bet it was her since there were no cuts that would allow for the doubles to get in. That's my bet.

First thing we did was search for the making of the movie. I was very interested if this angelic face was indeed the one who did most of the actions or if there were stunt men. Seeing the youtube clip of the making was very interesting.

Fashion don't! Snooki's Fashion Faux Pas

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. Not only is she accused of faking brown skin, which literally does not look tanned but like true brown, but she is also recently accused of committing a very serious crime - fashion faux pas - which is hilariously big one!

She can pass as an Asian given that she's small, the black hair suits her and that she's looking cute and hot with those pair of gorgeous proud assets. We know that her looks combined with her skank acts helped for her to land the reality TV scenes of Jersey Shore. However, now that she has secured the third season of this show, she should at least learn how to dress better. With the money she pocketed from Jersey Shore, she is expected to be able to afford some fresh and fashionable new outfits. Or NOT?

Hollywood's most expensive engagement rings

We always look at celebrities fashion; we admire and scrutinize. We update ourselves with what they wear, how they wear and where they shop. In times, we try to copy their looks. However, it is as much fascinating as fashion updates to take a look at celebrities’ engagement rings. A little peek on how some celebrities say that big Yes! and how they sport that big bling is terrifyingly inspiring.

1

Just like every one of us, celebrities get engaged because of love. Of course, it must be love! But because they are public figures, everyone would be looking at the engagement ring. The first question that everyone asks is “How much?” It's inevitable that people compare the estimated price of their bling. Some celebrity betrothed turn out to be big spenders when it comes to love. They show how much they are willing to spend for the woman that they intend to spend the rest of their lives with. On the other hand, there are also these practical celebrity betrothed that are not very extravagant; spending only reasonable amount for a reasonably beautiful bling. Yet, we cannot rate the degree of their love towards their celebrity fiancĂ©es mainly based on the amount of their engagement rings. After all, a ring, regardless of its symbol and worth, is just a ring. There are so much more in a marriage than just a bling.

Do you remember the time when there was a huge gossip about the Bennifer engagement ring? When Ben Affleck proposed to Jennifer Lopez, the estimated cost of the ring dropped jaws. The first rough estimate of the ring was $3 million. However, the latter estimation by experts settled at $1.2 million. That was a lot. No wonder the talk about that ring dominated the gossip columns across the country. Yet, despite the attention that the ring generated, it didn't, as it turned out, top the list of Hollywood's most expensive engagement rings. In fact, it is said to only 6th from the top.

Here are only some of the most expensive celebrity engagement rings.

rings

1) Jennifer Lopez Other Half: Marc Anthony, State of Union: Married,
Estimated Cost: $5 million
2) Celebrity: Heidi Klum Other Half: Seal, State of Union: Married,
Estimated Cost: $1.5 million
3) Mariah Carey, Other Half: Nick Cannon.
Estimated Cost: $2.5 million
4) Victoria Beckham Other Half: David Beckham, State of Union: Married
Estimated Cost: $1 million
5) Jennifer Lopez, Other Half: Ben Affleck, State of Union: Never Married
Estimated Cost: $3 million
6) Celebrity: Beyonce, Other Half: Jay-Z , State of Union: Married
Estimated Cost: $5 million

There are still many of the most expensive engagement rings in Hollywood that we are not privileged to see. It would be neat to get a glimpse of Paris Hilton's 24-carat emerald cut diamond ring from Paris Latis on his promise to wed her which is said to top the list of the most expensive bling in Hollywood. Despite the engagement being canceled only after five months, their engagement ring still remains at the top.

Some ladies are just privileged to have a rare and very expensive stone as a symbol of love.

Fashion Don't! Katie Holmes Fashion Faux Pas?

There's this video of Hollywood's Most Well-Dressed Mom-Kid duos by Shine featuring the top five most fashionable moms and their stylish kids. Guess what? Katie Holmes topped the list along with her daughter, Suri. I've no question about that. Katie undeniably wears cute outfits and Suri evidently knows how to style in spite of being only four years old.

However, there is something that troubles me tonight. It's this troubling outfit that I spotted on her -- consisting of a bold button-down, baggy boy jeans, and granny shoes -- while she was in and about LA.

Tell me girls. Are you as troubled as me upon seeing this outfit? Should we add this to our Fashion Don't! list?

Fashion Don't! Paloma Faith's Fashion Faux Pas

Just the other day I spoke about how Japanese fashion use more than three colors in an outfit - usually bright if not bold colors - and that how they come up with playful and girly combinations. Well today, let us see how Brit Paloma Faith has almost applied this same principle in her outfit when she attended the 40th anniversary celebrations of Browns on May 12, 2010 in London, England. She stepped out in "a multi-colored muumuu, mismatched stockings, platform pumps, and a horrific, electric-blue hat." OMG

Now ladies, you be the judge. Is this a fashion faux pas or not? Should we add this outfit in our Fashion Don't! list?

Fashion Don’t: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Fashion

“Fur Is Worn by Beautiful Animals and Ugly People.” You must have heard the animal rights groups screaming loud to Mary- Kate Olsen whom they dearly call “Hairy Kate” and Ashley Olsen as "Trashley”. The animal rights advocates heavily criticize the twins because of their decision to wear fur and to use it in their fashion designs. However, I don’t wish to speak about whether or not they should stop promoting fur. Instead, I’d like to give attention on how they wear animal print.

If there’s one don’t that I haven’t mentioned on my style tip “how to wear animal print”, it’s that you shouldn’t wear matronly animal prints.

This cheetah-print blouse failed terribly to make Mary-Kate Olsen look like a 23-year-old trendsetter. It does, however, successfully make her look like a cast member of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey".

I wonder if looking matronly can be in the genes. Seeing Ashley in a body-swallowing scarf, frumpy plaid skirt, and raccoon-like eye makeup, she makes a very good counterpart for her twin.

Fashion Don't? Sarah Jessica Parker's Outfit

What makes you want to see the “Sex and the City” series? Is it the romance, the comedy or the fashion that makes you get hooked?

Carrie Bradshaw may not be so great nor should I say so lucky when it comes to relationship but she is stunningly a fashion icon. For someone who’d rather buy Vogue instead of dinner and with intense love for shoes, there’s no doubt she deserves her fashion status.

Thanks to this Carrie Bradshaw persona that made Sarah Jessica Parker a style icon. However, does being such an icon make her not capable of getting caught in a catastrophe? Examine what she wore to a Press Junket for the “Sex and the City 2”.

Case in Point: Pair of acid wash trousers

SPL180543_008

Notice how this outfit was made up of all plain basic colors – the scarf, cardigan, sling bag and clogs. You’d like to think Sarah just put on anything she had her hands first without actually thinking. No wonder the OMG writers called this a tragic outfit.

Now vote for yourself girls. Should we add this outfit to our fashion don’t list?

How short do you wear shorts?

With nice weather and summer, denim shorts can make great outfits. Girls with nice legs can be seen strutting the streets in them while those who are not comfortable baring their legs opt to wear their shorts with tights. But there's one question that I heard asked, "How long or how short would you like to wear your shorts? Hmmm, for me, I usually wear shorts 2 inches below the pocket. They can be considered short shorts but I'm comfortable in them.

Let us take a look at how these girls wore their shorts.

Fashion Don't! Celebrity Outfit Misteps

It’s undeniable that celebrities are always looked upon by fans as inspirations for fashion. They have power to introduce new trends which are picked up by their audience and copied. This is essentially true for celebrities in Asia. However, while celebrities are always on the quest to create their identity, fashion mistep comes hand in hand. There are only few of them who never had contributed to our list for what we call “fashion don’t!”

Be were on sending message through quotes.

Quotes on t-shirts and other apparels became common since many years back. Usually, a tee with texts is a better option compared to a dull single-colored plain tee. However, unless you wish to send that exact message printed on the fabric, you have to be careful in choosing the quotes.

The driver of a car waiting for the green light opened her window and carelessly threw a banana peel. When she finally got off her car, she turned out to be wearing a pink fitting t-shirt that says “I’m a bitch.”

Lindsay Lohan showed up at Snoop Dogg's More Malice release party at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood wearing this huge tee that screams she's a garbage chic.

Don't go saggy!

I wonder if saggy harem pants are made only for tall girls. It does not highlight any curves, which is vital for not long legged girls, therefore it does not create a figure-flattering look. Even if you wear the most gorgeous top, if you pair it with these kind of pants, it might defeat everything. But Janet Jackson was looking very comfortable in them.

Don't wear just anything and everything.

Going too matchy with your outfit can easily create an impression of being a “trying hard fashionista”. Complementary is more of a rule today than matching. But that does not mean that you simply have to throw all items you first grab from your closet - literally anything and everything. When prints clash, it simply says you made no effort. But that’s less harsh than saying you have no taste. Apparently, Mary-Kate Olsen was caught in such an act.

Some bustier aren't meant displayed.

I adore Emma Watson but I don’t adore this dress. I love lace. I love flowers too. But if the lace already took a large part and the embroidered flowers are not very flattering, I no longer need a pair of lacy bustier.
