How to fashionably wear shorts

Shorts, and I mean short shorts, are arguably my most signature style. Whenever you get a glimpse of me on any other day, whether I'm strolling off the streets of Bangkok, shopping, or spending a wonderful afternoon at the park, and unless I'm at work, you most certainly see me wearing shorts. Perhaps I can point at the weather in this corner of the world - which is always ridiculously hot - as the reason of my love for shorts; or probably, it could simply be due to my unconscious desire to bare more skin, I'm not really sure.

A few months ago, I playfully ask the question of how short do you wear shorts? I heard quite a number of amused reactions from the readers when they saw how some celebrities wear shorts. But today, to answer a serious question from a reader, how do you fashionably wear shorts? I came up with this post.

shorts9

Faded denim shorts, plain white top and flip flops or flat sandals completed with a fabulous jacket. Let the jacket speak for the outfit. Loud accessories obviously furnishes the look.

shorts2

Layer your shorts with your favorite tights. This is best when it's winter or when you feel it isn't that cool to bear that much skin. ;)

shorts3

I love this look a lot, very vintage. It's high waist short shorts with huge pockets that are clearly outlined. How the red stripes made contrast with the shorts' color is very intriguing.

shorts1

Wear shorts as a teaser by pairing it with a blousy off shoulder top. I'd prefer wearing gladiator sandals for this look.

shorts8

This is the look that my fiance hate to see me wear. The reason? He says that my rear isn't visible in this kind of shirt. And since I'm skinny, he thinks that the curves aren't displayed at all. If the shirt doesn't hike up at the back, it seems that I'm only wearing a long shirt and an underwear. Oh really? I don't really care. As long as I feel comfortable, a pair of well-shaped legs displayed suffice for the look. But oh, have you thought of using a really fierce hand bag for this outfit?

shorts7

Tattered denim shorts really impress me. Why not pair them with a loose knitted top or a transparent blouse layered by a fitting undergarment? And well, look at those shoes. ;)

shorts6

Rider denim shorts can be really challenging cuz if not done right, you can look slutty. But if you're brave enough, wear underneath a pair panties leggings that extend down your legs to stylishly cover some length.

shorts5

I'm not really sure if after getting up in the morning and just grabbing a leather jacket to cover your top is a good idea. After all,  isn't this nighties shorts look fabulous in the catwalk.

6 Simple Ways of Caring and Mending Your Shawl to Keep It in Great Condition

shawl

You can keep your shawl in great shape by bearing in mind the following: hand wash your shawl, do not tumble-dry, know how to store your shawl, give importance to special instructions, do some extra research, and go an extra mile.

To give your shawl lasting beauty and comfort, you need to give it the best care. Here are simple means, by which you can take care of your precious shawl, as well as mend it:

Hand wash your shawl

The best way to cleanse your shawl is to hand wash it. Machine-washing can destroy your shawl with its tumbling motions. Since shawls are delicate, avoid bleaching them and use only mild soap or baby shampoo with cool water. After rinsing, never twist or wring your shawl, but instead, squeeze it gently to keep it in great shape. Dry cleaning is also acceptable as long as the treatment used is safe and mild for your shawl.

Do not tumble-dry

Tumble-drying can ruin your shawl in the same way machine-washing does. The best way to dry your shawl is to lay it flat out in the open air without exposing it to direct heat or sunlight. Some shawls do not need to be ironed. In case they do, always put a cloth between your shawl and the iron to keep its great color.

Know how to store your shawl

Since you do not need your shawl the whole year round, you need to keep your shawl in great condition for the next use. Do not hang, but rather, fold your shawl to prevent losing its shape, especially if your shawl is heavy. Keep it in a cool dry place, never in a damp or very hot location. If your shawl is beaded or has added embellishment, experts advise you to put acid-free white tissue in between folds to avoid imprinting these designs on the fabric of your shawl.
Give importance to special instructions
Shawls can be made from different fabrics and can come with different accessories, thus requiring special care for each shawl. Care to read special washing, drying, and storing instructions that come when purchasing your shawl.

Do some research

Sometimes, when you purchase a shawl, special instructions are not included. If you got it online, try going to the website of the shop and search for suggestions on caring for your shawl. You can also contact their customer support for more information. On the other hand, you can search for articles and topics that can give you shawl care tips.

Go an extra Mile

Just when you think that a shawl with traces of piling or has a hole or little tear is useless, think again. For piling problems or when your shawl is said to show bits of fluff on its surface, you can buy fabric shavers that are available at most household stores or fabric shops. For holes and tears, there are shops and people who can help you. These people, known as darners, have the special skills and equipment, such as needles and yarns, needed to fix your shawl and make it look great again for a certain price. Popular darners are usually found in India, but your shawl shop may just know some from your area. You can also search the Internet for special shops who offer such services. Finally, if you are fond of knitting and you are skilled at it, you can fix your own crocheted shawl by studying very well the pattern and getting the right yarn colors.
As long as you are willing to take care of your shawl inasmuch as it undoubtedly gives you elegance and comfort, maintaining the condition of your shawl is not that very difficult after all. Give your shawl the best care and it will give you the best beauty and warmth you deserve.

Fabulously Bumpy: Style Guide for Pregnant Women

One of the scariest things about getting married is that you'll eventually get pregnant. And for girls like us who are conscious about looks and outfits, this thought can be really frightening. Questions like "what if I won't get my body back?" or "what if I'll get so many stretch marks?" pop in. But most especially we ask, "what about my fashion?"

Don't have sex, because you will get pregnant and die! ...
~ Mean girls

Do you have to forbid yourself from the joy of sex and the bliss of marriage all for the sake of fashion? Of course not! Gone are the days when being pregnant is considered a blow to being fashion. Thanks to our dear celebrities who made it a fashion being pregnant. Aw, did you notice that? Being pregnant is fashion. But girls, don't hurry.

So I thought it is of great importance to blog about how do we maintain our creativity and *fashionability even if we are pregnant?

Hear my tips ...

Don't wear plain pregnancy dress just for the sake of comfort.
I have not been pregnant but I know that pregnancy brings so many discomforts the reason why many pregnant girls tend to settle with comfortable but boring very pregnant dresses. If you don't want to stain the stylish image you heart to maintain, then choose dresses that are sexy but are also comfortable such as Ella maternity. They can be dresses that show off your toned shoulders and arms or mini dresses that shows off your legs. You can decide to highlight either at a time. If you want to show only your arms and shoulders, you can wear mini dress or empire cut top and pair it with some black tights. This combination works even with you having the bump. Additionally, the dresses and blouses that you'd invest for during this period would never go wasted simply because you can still use them even after pregnancy.

Stay slim.
Some lucky girls stay slim even after getting pregnant and only that cute visible bump gives proof that there's real baby on the way. However, to most girls, they gain significant weight during pregnancy. This is when the challenge to look slim strikes. If this would be true to any of you, girls, then I suggest that you choose sleeveless blouses or dresses with thin straps or what we call spaghetti straps. Seek for clothes with vertical or diagonal narrow stripes pattern or a creation of dark prints which create a slimmer look. Should a taste for flowery designs comes, which is very likely if you're carrying a girl, make sure you stick for tiny prints. Bloom maternity black dresses aclaim the oldest fact we all know, that black always create a slimmer look.

Put your hands on those old stuff, wear your old stretchable denim jeans.
There are days when wearing jeans gives us the feeling of freedom that is denied by some clothes. Therefore it is a pain to not able to wear them when you feel like wearing. Well girls, the good news is that there is a way. Search your closet and look for some old jeans that you think still fit on the legs preferably those stretchable ones. Look for some old turtle neck top preferably black or gray. Then get some good sciscors, big needles and thread. Cut off the upper part of your jeans a little above the secret pocket towards the belt area. If the jeans are low waist style, then only a little portion would be removed, otherwise, it's up to you to estimate the length that would suit your height. The thing is, the pockets, after your done with your designing, would immediately extend below the bump. Next, cut off the neck area of your turtle neck top. It is expectedly stretchable and long. Now, you would have to sew the neck you cut from the turtle neck top to attach to your jeans. When done, you would now have a stylish preggy jeans that is still wearable even after you'll have the baby.

If you don't have the time or the materials that you'll need to create your home-made preggy jeans, then you can invest for some denim jeans like these. Your own design would actually look like this but only without the belt area. If it is summer and you prefer something cooler that are also denim, then you can wear denim pedal pants. They would in no way make you less stylish.

Making the decision to have a child- it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.

A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for.

What is sexy?

How would you define sexy? Is it the catwalk inspired definition that is being thin?

CIMG2461

I remembered reading before the interview of Jennifer Lopez from the Reader's Digest. She said that if she sees two women walking, one is thin and the other voluptuous, she would look at how they carry themselves. The thin girl walks shyly unsure and unconfident of herself while the other walks with grace and certainty enjoying the sway of her hips and the feel of her hair with her head up, without doubts, the latter defines what is sexy.

While the world is succumb by the problems of eating disorders or anorexia, I think it is time to re-evaluate the real meaning of the word "sexy".

By the way, is J.Lo thin? And isn't she sexy?

What is your own definition of sexiness, girls?
