Funfair Fashion Show

In case some of you aren't aware yet, the fashionista behind this blog is a teacher. Last Sunday, we had a Funfair at school. It's a day when parents and students come to school on a weekend to hang out, have fun and get entertained. The teachers on the other hand prepare entertainment, booths and games to promote bonding between parents and children while raising funds for some worthwhile projects - so to speak.

Early on Sunday was very busy for us - hours before the funfair started. We had to complete the decorations for our booths which we've started doing since friday, with the interval of Saturday, Thank God it didn't rain in between.

My booth, along with my friend and co-teacher Joy, is the souvenir. As you can see in this picture, it ain't complete yet.

There were dances rendered by the students and my favorite being the dance by the K3 and K4. Not only was the dance choreographed by Joy, it also was a combination of fashion show of which, yours truly, came in. I lent a hand in choreographing the catwalk ;)

It's an International school. We have Indians, Thai, Japanese and other Asian ethnicity.

A dance and fashion show that's purely girls would be boring, mind you, so of course, boys had to come into the picture. After the little catwalk, the boys went up the stage to dance with the girls for the remaining half of the music.

The crowd loved the dance&catwalk presentation so much that it was done twice.

The bad thing about being the girl behind the lens stealing time to take photos while trying to sell our souvenir products is that, at the end of the day, I realized I've no single photo :(

It was a good day, I thought to share.

Fabulously yours,

Three Facts about Dolce and Gabbana

Dolce and Gabbana are considered “the most powerful designers of our time”. They design clothes not for stick women but for women with hips and curves. Their favorite customer who's also their very loyal fan is Madonna.

Here are three facts about Dolce and Gabbana:

1. The duo met in 1980 when they were working as assistants in an atelier in Milan. They decided to join forces sometime in 1983 and the Dolce & Gabbana label was born.

2. The duo is business partners as well as romantic partners in real life. They broke up in February 2005 but eventually got back together in 2008.

3. Their fondness for black in their designs is inspired by the dress of the peasants and gangsters of Sicily. However, they also mix contradictory collection of fabrics and influences.

Dolce and Gabbana1

Nothing beats black. It's the color of elegance.

Dolce and Gabbana2

It's requires creativity to be able to wear undergarments as outer garments. Or should undergarments remain as such?

Dolce and Gabbana3

These are great alternatives in wearing suit.

Dolce and Gabbana4

Beige is the color of the rich.

Dolce and Gabbana5

The best way to wear polka dots? I never thought breaking the rule would work as best. Animal print and polka dots are perfect together.

Dolce and Gabbana6

The best way to wear shade of green.

Dolce and Gabbana 7

G&B might be fond with black and gray but once they play with bright colors, they just bring perfection.

And they can work with flowers too.

Creative Fashion by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada

When I first met the name Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, it stuck. Not because I liked the name, but because it was the contrary. It's not that the name is ugly, but it's how my mom used to address me by it whenever she was mad at me; as a kid, that is. Donya Agatha!

But perhaps it helped. I became curious about the designer behind the name. For how many times, and quite several times, I googled about her. And what a consequence! her designs are called Creative fashion. I had to find more about her. And here's what I've found.

She's from Madrid. She's married to Pedro Almodóvar and she has two kids. She was formerly a star of the dynamic modiva period of the late 80's but eventually faded in popularity. Then she made a comeback and worked to restore her name through fashion designing.

She sticks to bold Pop Art patterns — flowers, hearts, stars, food and anything you meet in your house or in the streets.

Her designs are creative and distinct. I actually wondered at first if there's anyone who would use the designs which I think are wacky and weird. Would you walk in the streets with a sunny side-up egg on your dress, a bread on your head or a cage over half your body? Perhaps in the movies?

But browsing more from her collections, my impression changed from apprehension into wishful interest seeing all the colorful and easy to wear garments that she has made. The colors and patterns create an everyday summer feel and comfort. They are stuff that the mean girls in the campus would wear.

Try fashion like Italy

When I first saw these photos from an Italy fashion Show, I was totally smitten. And I never got over it.

I'm sure you would understand why. Look carefully at the combinations, the play of colors and of cuts and of that something that I really want to put in words but I couldn't. But let me try.

Perhaps, what really caught me is the notion of creating a street fashion look in a very sleek way. Can you think of any street fashion you'd wear at day time running around the city and at a dinner party straight away?

What about these?

You don't have to entirely copy the look but you can get the idea and start making your own combinations.

Early morning today, after I was hurriedly dressed up for school, I quickly checked my inbox. One of our avid readers here at Creative Fashion sweetly requested if I can do some "My outfit" posts. Yeah, it's quite a time now that we don't have some outfit posts on here, but guess what? sometimes, life can be so choking and exhausting that prepping one's self for some fabulous outfit poses is nearly impossible. Sometimes, the reality of life can be so demanding.

But of course, despite those some harshness in life, we girls should never ever let ourselves defeated. Sometimes, we just have to recover our energy and be rightly fabulous again.

Mercedes_Benz Fashion Week 2010 takes the excitement to New York

Tell me girls; is there any fashion blogger here who does not keep track of what’s new in the fashion designers’ world? Is there anyone who does not feel envious upon knowing that someone’s blog got noticed and that fashion girl behind the blog got invited to attend a fashion week? Oh, let’s be real here. Getting invited to a fashion week and getting the opportunity to attend one is just any other fashion girl’s dream.

Wouldn’t you be ecstatic to see all the latest designers clothes ? I always make sure I get updated with what’s new in the runway. Although above that, I make sure that I identify which designs actually hit the streets.

Now, what really makes me excited is the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City on February 11-18. This is going to be a rampage of Fall fashion for 2010. What beats the excitement under the tents? The gossips, the news and fashion updates would be at hand all for you to grab and write.

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week takes the excitement at a new location but still in New York, the center of glamour and fashion. How I dream to get there and be one of those fashion bloggers sharing the tents, entirely glamorous and freaking busy with all the events? I know what I would do if I were there. I would sleep early and would try to skip most of the late night parties so I would not miss any day-time event. I would take everything documented. And I know that I would need to bring my own food to supply me through the days so that even if the food for everyone finishes quickly, I would not be bothered. I need to be focused. Otherwise, isn’t this my biggest dream?

Paris Runway Fashion Show

I must be very lucky today to be able to feed my eyes with the massive collection of runway photos from Paris Fashion Show by season. Girls, believe, you would love what you'd see if you take a look at the site that I found, Paris Fashion Shows.

The photos collected in the site are actually on sale for the press and digital providers. But for us fashion girls, what profit do we get from these but to satisfy out fashion fantasies? Remember, it's Paris...
