Sometimes looking through some old sketches not only brings back memories but it actually works as some sort of weird retrospective inspiration. Well, for the past couple of days I was running around with the sketches for these Summer bags like a crazy person. Having absolutely no time to eat or sleep properly, deep inside I was still wondering why don't they come out right. Why don't they look exactly they way I want them to, and I was not even sure what that meant. I guess every designer gets this kind of feelings at one time or the other.
And then at one point, somewhere in between being glued to my work table with my sketch book in front of me and a bunch of different sorts of pencils in my hand, I realised I already had some pretty good sketches. And exactly at the point I thought to myself that my mother has always had it right. She always told me that when you are trying too hard and it still does not seem to be going your way, just leave for a while, give it some rest. Well, and this is what I did. And, voila, I got off my chair and quickly started flipping though my old files, and there they were. The final versions of the sketches that are going on the Summer bags. I did those back in november as some sort of pre-fashion exercise when I was trying to figure out whether this was a good idea for me at all to have such a dramatic change of career.
Hope you like them and I am really looking forward for you, my dear reader, to come down to our Bruxelles studio and check them out.
See you soon

ps. and i know for the last couple of days it was mainly drawings and sketches and not much on the craft side, but i promise tomorrow i'll put some detailed pictured of the production process
