Christoper Kane Resort '10

Christopher Kane on his recent collection:

“I wanted something natural, but I’m so fed up with florals,” and then I came across these images of nuclear test explosions from the fifties to the seventies on the Internet. I like the crazy-bright chemical colors. The way they’re sinister—but beautiful.”

During these testing times (which are hitting the fashion industry hard) Kane has certainly chosen an instantly marketable and recognisable subject matter. The images in the fabrics were sourced from free public-access photos on the U.K. Ministry of Defense Web site. I love the fact that the garments are all at once soft and beautiful but also hard and sinister. The colours are a mix of dark, vibrant and electric and pale pastel; they seem to radiate a light of their own.
