FASHION GIRLS: 12/01/09

I'm back.

16 countries and 4.5 months later and I'm back home. My Europe trip was an absolute blast and something I will remember for the rest of my life! While I'm still recovering from the jet lag I can honestly say I'm glad to be here. I have definitely arrived back at the right time of year the sun is shining and it's beach time! I will definitely keep the updates going!

This is one of the first video clips I've seen since being home (backpacking causes one to become an alien to the real world). For me this is a testament to summer in Australia. Chilled out days, sun drenched landscapes and summer romance.

First and second ladies

Sacre bleu! French Elle has voted Michelle Obama the first lady of 'political chic' in its annual best-dressed list, whilst France's premiere dame, Carla Bruni is runner-up for the second year on the trot. That's Not My Age thinks Elle is spot on. Obama's blend of J. Crew and Jason Wu, and love of a good cardigan - top marks for the Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons patchwork number she wore on her first London trip - give her a more distinctive style. And whilst Bruni looks gorgeous in head-to toe Dior, the prim and proper look doesn't wash - admit it, she just looks better in jeans.

I wonder if dating a swimmer would help me get over my phobia of depth. Well, honey does swim and he'll be working on a mission to make me learn how to swim. I told him it won't be easy. Simple Holiday Decorating

Happy December! (whoa!? December...?)

Now that the Holidays are fully upon us - I will share a few of my simple decorating ideas. Nothing ground breaking, but maybe a bit interesting and definitely simple?

My first DIY Holiday idea...Do you have a cake dome? Well, if you currently don't have cake to use it for, try filing it up with pretty ornaments like I did. Use it for a centerpiece.

For other centerpieces or mantel decoration ideas, I used large glass vases I found at Marshals, but have also seen at Walmart, as my base.

For one, I filled with scented (Cinnamon) pine cones (found at Walmart):

For the second one, I used the same ornaments I used in the cake dome. I got these ornaments at Target. Just simple round ornaments in different colors and sizes:

The glass vases and cake dome were things I already had at my house. Hopefully you can find items around your house to transform into decorations.
